The index (with completion) is the one feature that makes the info concept so superior to other document browsing supports and the "info" reader superior to other info reader like pinfo.

However, there's one annoying thing in that typing i followed by some index entry takes you to the node containing the indexed subject, but not to the line where that subject is discussed in the node. Which is a shame given that at least in recent info languages, the line number is stored in the index. Instead, info searches for the first occurrence of the text of the label in the node.

For example, let's say you want to learn about the "read" built-in command of the zsh shell. You type:

info zsh

Then

i

then

read

And you're taken to the "Builtin commands" node, which is fine, but which is a huge node. And you're not taken to the documentation of the "read" command, but to the first appearance of the word "read" on that page which is very near the top as "read" is quite a common word.

I attach a patch that fixes is for me.
