Is the problem with 2d and/or 3d graphics?

I'm guessing it's with 3d graphics, if so you're ony hope is checking for a newer version of your graphics card driver (I would guess that it can't handle the high resolution).

I own a Toshiba tecra notebook running at 1400x1050 resolution- GNU crashes or has garbled graphics at this resolution- when I lower the resolution it seems to solve the problem- is there a fix for this?
