Oh, sorry, thanks for the info (again) :(
So... the status of this item is:

  • X version works but should not open a window.
  • QT also but should not open a window.

However I suspect decoupling the typesetter from the rest might not be an easy task, so I'm now demoting this item to "later".

Since Joris is the one qualified for this, I'm assigning him to the task to get his view on the matter.

Miguel, passing parameter on the command line for TeXmacsX11 does not work on Mac if you have macosx-extensions enabled. in that case handling of command line argument is done via the Cocoa libraries which expect the first argument to be an identifier like -p3097409. When you open the app from the Finder this argument is passed to the executable by the windowing system. That is the reason for the crash if you give the executable arbitrary command line parameter.

Option
-c [i] [o] Convert file 'i' into file 'o'

seems to have this purpose. However in my machine (svn 4962, MacOS), trying to convert from .tm to .ps has the following results:

- The X version segfaults. No file is produced.
- The QT version opens a window (it shouldn't) and creates a valid ps file.

I'm "promoting" this item to bug.

Just for the record - I know that you are working on this
bug but it does not seem to be in the bugtracking system:

From: PUYDT Julien <julien.puydt@club-internet.fr>

I would like to be able to type something like:
texmacs -i paper.tm -o paper.ps
and have my texmacs-typed paper ready for printing.

For your information, this is what lyx --help says:
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
LyX 1.1.6fix4 of Fri, Jan 11 2002
Usage: lyx [ command line switches ] [ name.lyx ... ]
Command line switches (case sensitive):
-help summarize LyX usage
-userdir dir try to set user directory to dir
-sysdir dir try to set system directory to dir
-geometry WxH+X+Y set geometry of the main window
-dbg feature[,feature]...
select the features to debug.
Type `lyx -dbg' to see the list of features
-x [--execute] command
where command is a lyx command.
-e [--export] fmt
where fmt is the export format of choice.
-i [--import] fmt file.xxx
where fmt is the import format of choice
and file.xxx is the file to be imported.
Check the LyX man page for more details.

That may be useful, for example, for a print filter: it detects a
texmacs file (well, for the moment even 'file' doesn't recognize them),
and converts it to a suitable format.
