...of course, I have my doubts as to how accurate this could be, as to my knowledge wget never generates file:// links, but rather direct pathnames (no "file:" scheme). Perhaps it's a heavily-modified downstream version?

Interesting behavior brought up on IRC:

<Morge> Hi all
<Morge> I have a problem using wget. Was hoping you could help me out.
<Morge> On the norwegian newspaper aftenposten (www.aftenposten.no) they use 'double' web addresses, like this: http://lp.aftenposten.no/ego/Hovedfelt_1_midten/http://www.aftenposten.no/nyheter/iriks/article1952974.ece
<Morge> when I ask to replace the links to local ones, it replaces the part from the second http://, giving me broken links.
<Morge> like this: http://lp.aftenposten.no/ego/Hovedfelt_1_toppsak/file://home/mt/tmp/wget-test/www.aftenposten.no/nyheter/oslo/article1951991.ece.html
<Morge> is there a way I can make this work?
