the attach file is the test swf we used. I just used the gnash of new version as you told to me, and then i
find that the memory is not worse ,I will test it continuely. but I find that some compents of swf do not show corecctly. I will test it for more, and I will
connact with you for gansh.
Thank you very much.
Have a good day!

You can also upload your movie to a public webserver and write the URL and an md5sum here.

It seem that the test.swf is too big and the size is 712k,so I cant send it to you ,do I have any other way to you? if I cut the swf for smaller ,I will cost some times, and I will then send to you later.
Thanks!

Ok,I attach my swf whose name is test.swf, the flash version is 4. The function keys are 1,2,4,5 and 6. when press any key quickly, you can find the mem become less. we run the player on embedd linux,so we find it easliy, but on a PC, you can do also. I also find that ,the gnash of 0.8.0 is so bad,but the cvs is better. I have not use the current HEAD,I will do it .
thanks very much!

Attach your SWF movie please, we can't just shoot in the dark here.
Also, make sure you're using current HEAD, as 0.8.0 did NOT have a garbage collector activated.

the version gcc i used is 3.4.5 20051201 (Red Hat 3.4.5-2).
the libc is glib-2.11.3.
I exported GLIBCXX_FORCE_NEW=1 and GLIBCPP_FORCE_NEW,the bug remaind.

If you're using the GNU standard c++ lib you can set GLIBCPP_FORCE_NEW (for older GCC versions) or GLIBCXX_FORCE_NEW (for newer versions) to 1 to force early release of memory.
If you don't set these variables the library will save the memory
for later recycling.

we want to play SWF 4 just, and we can update the SWF to 5 or more.and the version of gnash we used is gnash-0.8.0 and cvs version , the same bug is found. I studied some codes ,and I think the main reason is the DisplayList manager, we malloc new list, but not free them as soon as .I am not sure about it. The remove_display_object function is called by the UNLOAD event from SWF? and it will free the olddisplaylist? There is no removeMovieClip command in our SWF 4,so it is the reason

Most likely because of memory leaks. What SWF are you playing, and what is your gnash version and setup? (the output of gnash --version)
