Based on a quick test, I found:

a button_record could contain normal shape IDs, other bution IDs, sprite IDs, text IDs...

So, I guess, a button instance could be a parent of all those things.

confirmed.
The parent of button does not necessarily to be a sprite. It is legal to be another button.

I added more parser debugging and I can see that a button_record
is containing a button_character_def (it's found by ID, so by a CharacterDictionary lookup).

Any idea about wheter this is legal ?

Button parent is a gnash::button_character_instance

How to reproduce:

Click buttons and press keys so to advance till the "village" is shown (with the superimposed text). AT that point just press a key.
