Fixed in CVS

In addition, fixed multiple instances of horizontal spacing problems, both in superscripts and subscripts. This also impacted some vulgar fractions that were composed of these superscripts.

Note the characters lie in separated ranges, some in Latin-1 Supplement, some in "Super and Sub scripts"

  1. : 2070 "zerosuperior"

1 : 00B9 "onesuperior"
2 : 00B2 "twosuperior"
3 : 00B3 "threesuperior"
4 5 6 7 8 9 : 0274-0279

(the subscripts are together though: 0280-0289)

Hi,

I have seen this problem.

The FreeMono superscript 0 is higher than the other superscript digits.

The FreeSans problem appears to be of a different nature. It looks to me that the font hinting is failing to make it look uniform at smaller point sizes: at larger point sizes, it looks OK.

I haven't made a complete survey of the various faces, but I think we can expect more problems.

Also: I also noticed there are big discrepancies in the horizontal placement of the superscripts: check out especially FreeMonot Oblique and BoldOblique.

See also http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/278057#278057 for a discussion of how changes in the font "set aside" values have affected existing applications (in this case MythArchive, part of the MythTV package).

We're observing some issues with the vertical offset
for superscripted digits 0 to 9.

Display of a number as "1024 = 2¹⁰"
works well for Serif, but not Sans or Mono.
