As a note to bug starter: I've removed all references to pthreads in the codebase. (You will need to rerun ./autogen.sh.)
Also, I'm interested in hearing about your attempts to build Gnash on windows. Perhaps you could visit #gnash on irc.freenode.net some time.

But we'd like to run as close to "native" as possible, and it's an easy change to use Boost mutexes anyway.

Sure, it should be replaced, but the current compilation problem could possible be solved with pthread-win32

server\parser\movie_def_impl.h contains inclusion and use of the pthread library, which isn't available on win32. Should be replaced with Boost::Thread.
