Checking the default browser is not really worth the effort, since different platforms and window managers will do things differently.

The other request are fixed in the latest release.

Launching "Help -> Manual (web)" or "Help -> Report Bug"
invokes SeaMonkey browser on this system, despite having
default browser preference set for Firefox.

gnubg should check for (and respect!) user preferences
w.r.t. external utilities. Depending on platform, such
preference may be expressed via a wrapper (e.g. 'htmlview'),
a configuration option, or a registry setting (not all
systems are *IX). If recognizing/supporting multiple
platforms is too difficult, a configuration option would
be better than having to rebuild from source.

Also, browser should execute as daemon if possible, so
bug reporters can flip back to gnubg for details. At
present gnubg is wait()ing for me to finish typing, and
will not repaint until I close this browser.
