This is likely to be fixed now in the CVS. Please test.
I'm closing this bug report now -- please reopen it in case
it doesn't work as expected.

Sorry for the late reply. Somehow, the bug tracker on Savannah completely slipped through my radar.

Please check the current CVS whether you still see the problem. In case this is so, please provide a small input file which I can use for debugging.

I'm using "et_al 2 3" (the default). In 1.19, a citation with many authors is formatted as (Smith et al ... This is the correct behaviour. However, in 1.19.1 (Smith, Jones et al ... is output instead.
