Lots of bugs are due to Gnash's current high CPU usage so I am closing this a a duplicate of a known issue, not a specific bug

This Flash animation is actually 7MB, so too big to attach to this ticket. I have uploaded it here:

http://people.64studio.com/~daniel/flashback.swf

Cheers! Daniel

Yes, you will need to compile gnash from source: the 0.8.0 release or the CVS head. See gnu.org/software/gnash -> Getting the software

However, cpu-hungriness is a known problem that we are facing next.

The example flashback.swf you mention cannot be downloaded (connected... HTTPrequest sent... "No data received"). If it is not too large (<500kb) can you attach it please?

I can confirm this high CPU use using the package of Gnash 0.7.2 from Debian unstable on an AMD64 dual processor system, running the 64 Studio 1.0 distro. top shows up to 100% CPU usage for the gnash process.

It seems to be caused by any animation with lots going on, for example I used this file for testing:

http://louhi.kempele.fi/~skyostil/archive/dump/flash/flashback.swf

Simple animations on web pages cause much lower CPU load.

Is the AGG renderer a compile-time option?

Thanks for a great app! There's still no native 64-bit Linux version of Adobe's flash player, so at 64 Studio we'd really like to help the Gnash project with any testing you need.

When I open the faune.de site in iceweasel (firefox for debian) than Xorg consumes a lot of CPU power.
