I've encountered the same problems.

Note that the GID=0 bug is quite serious in that it prevents login from working properly. After verifying that authentication has succeeeded with the supplied username and password, phpGW proceeds to check if the account is a user or group by converting the username to an integer, yielding 0, and then seeing of that integer matches a group. So, once a group with GID=0 exists, the login module thinks everyone trying to login is actually a group (unless they happen to have a numerical username...) and tells the user that the username or password was wrong (which, of course, wasn't true).

Ok, i've done another installation of PHPGW, from zero, and i've more to say about this bug.

First, i've started with a (minimal) but working LDAP. I'm also using LDAP to store UNIX account (with nss and pam LDAP bindings) so i've at first created a minimal LDAP database, with 2 group and 1 user (gaio).

So i've installed phpgw, used the setup module to configure an existing ldap database for use it in phpgw, and all work well.

Then i've started to add group. First group got GID=0, and some error popups. I've user psql and GQ to correct the GID in LDAP and SQL database and all went well.

Then i've started to add users. First user got UID and GID='' (null), and also this zap all acl data for user/group 1000 (gaio), so i've also used GQ to correct LDAP entry, but also i've done a:

insert into phpgw_acl values ('admin', 'run', 1000, 1);

to be able to execute again the admin module, and so make me using all other application.

Then i've added 30+ users with no more pain.

If some other information could be usefoul, please, say me something.

I've restarted the phpgw installation in production mode, so i've redone all the installation process and take care step by step of this problem.

You can find detailed information about my experiments in phpgroupware-users list, more precisely on messages:

I'm setting up for my first time phpgw and LDAP, so i've dump&restored the LDAP database (and phpgw admin account) 2/3 times.

Everytimes after this, the first user and group created with phpgw in LDAP database got uid and gid NULL (or empty), so account doesn't work.

Subsequent account got well, and now there's no problem at all...
