0.7.1 is unsupported, if it happens again with an upgraded releasre (when we'll ship it and Ubuntu packages it) please report again :)
[ best if you can provide more info though, maybe the file produced under tmp ]

I was requested to try the Gnash to see if I could reproduce the crash. That is the problem. I was not running Gnash at all. In fact I have never run Gnash. The crash occurred when I was just browsing the Firefox. It did not cause a crash of Firefox at all and did not interrupt the browsing. I just got a message that Gnash crashed and I should report it. I did.

I am not even sure what Gnash is. My report is to try to figure out why browsing with Firefox would lead to a crash of a program that I was not even using.

I am using Ubuntu Edgy and Firefox 2.0. The Synaptic installer with Ubuntu does not point to release 0_7_2 of Gnash; it uses 0_7_1 release. Again I was not running a movie. I was just browsing Firefox and the particular website was not running a movie either.

Things we'd need form you:

1) Build gnash from the release_0_7_2 branch
2) try to reproduce the crash with the standalone player
(if runnign firefox from a console you should see all debugging
output, which would include URL of the movie, that you can
feed to the standalone executable to find out)
3) remember that the plugin invokes the standalone player, so
if you haven't installed the new gnash version the plugin
will still invoke the old gnash found on system (unless
you specify an executable setting GNASH_PLAYER variable
in the firefox environment)
4) if you can reproduce the bug send the URL of the offending movie

Thanks a lot :)

[field #10] Summary: Gnash crashed while browsing with Firefox
[field #11] Original Submission: I was browsing with Firefox using the news UBUNTU Edgy (6.10) release when I got the message that Gnash had crashed and that I should submit a file with the error code report complete. When I tried to submit it to UBUNTU I was told that since the crashed item was Gnash I should report it here.

I was not even aware at the time that Gnash was being used when it crashed. The error file was

/var/crash/_usr_bin_gnash.1000.crash

Let me know if there is anything else you need from me. This has crashed several times and always when I was browsing with Firefox. As this has been my only problem with Edgy I have not done anything else with it.

Hi Dick,

As you've been using the support tracker of Savannah's administration group I've reassigned this item to the correct bug tracker (ie. the one of the gnash project).

The project's page can be found at https://savannah.gnu.org/projects/gnash.

Regards,

Stephan
