I keep seeing this comment "Try manual dice...", but in this case you aren't actually addressing the issue this person rose. I've re-played moves that I perceived as pivotal, and Gnu will roll that number required to have the situation swing in it's direction more than probability would dictate. I've seen the exact same thing this person is describing, only I re-rolled 19 times. NINETEEN times and a particular number came up EVERY time, consecutively. I don't remember what random number generator it was.
Anyway, you're also implying that because Gnu plays well (which it does), that there can't be anything wrong with the random number generators. That silly logic, and it's wrong. I've sat there tediously rolling real dice, and there is a difference. I still get beat more often than I win, even on Expert setting, but I don't lose because of a ludicrous string of improbable rolls. I lose because I'm not seeing how Gnu is stacking things against me.
You should maybe take your own advice and try using real dice. There is a difference. What the reason is, I have no idea. Maybe neural nets can learn something about random number generators, but that doesn't explain everything either. There are too many times (more than 1 in 36 I'm sure) when it gets something like double 2 to save itself (move two men off the bar and hit me somewhere else -Geez, the only possible way to save itself, and it just HAPPENS BY CHANCE to roll a double 2 at that point in time???), and in fact if the sequence is replayed and you offer the cube, it'll of course resign. But no, if you play it through (as the hint even suggests), Gnu will too often seem to be able to pull some ridiculous combination out of its ass and come back to win the game that it should lose. Obviously you're going to see these things on occasion, but I see it all the time which really makes me wonder what's going on.
