Maybe I found it.

In FreeSerifItalic and FreeSerifBoldItalic,
Character U+215F (onenumerator) - like a 1/, composed of a onesuperior and a slash. Several of the vulgar fractions are composed of this character.

Has a little green ghostie. I see a green 1/ under the 1/.
I don't see this in FreeSerif though.

It is a layer. There were characters in fore and back layer.
Maybe somehow this ended up being printed.

I removed several of these, and in the meantime tidied up all these vulgar fractions (they could still use a tweek here ane there).

But let's see if this fixed it. I'll bet there are other cases of multiple layers. How to check?

I don't have an HP printer handy.

I don't see anything in the font that would result in something being "over-printed".

I tried printing on a printer at work. Looks good.

Could it be a printer driver problem?

Is this still happening?
Could you attach a digi-photo of the printed output?

OS: SUSE 10.1

Printer: HP LaserJet 6P

Issue: FreeSerif vulgar fraction 1/3 (U + 2153) is mis-printed, although it appears properly on screen, both in OOo 2.03 (SUSE 10.1 and Win 98 SE) and in PDFs generated from the ODF file under Linux (including those generated using ps2pdf).

Result: In printing, vulgar fraction 1/3 (U + 2153) appears to have something over-printed.

Expected result: Vulgar fraction 1/3 (U + 2153) prints properly, as does 2/3 (U + 2154).
