Some time ago I changed the code in NSTextView to keep the old values for the missing parts of a new typing attributes. I am not sure, if this is the correct solution, but it should fix the reported problem.

With that hint I was able to reproduce the problem. When not setting typing attributes it is possible to affect the displayed font via the font menu entries, when the typing attributes are set this wont work. In both cases the font menu does not work.
For me the default typing attributes used seem to be empty. I need to investigate further if we are not setting the right defautl values for that case somewhere in the NSTextView.

Come to think of it, you can reproduce it without an account. Open the user info editor (Alt+p or from the menu Client, set profile) and try to set font attributes.

I tried to reproduce this problem, but I don't understand which window I should open. Is there any example account I could use to get passed the initial login screen and to use the program?

This bug shows up for me on gui 0.10.3.

I create an empty NSTextView and make a call to -setTypingAttributes:. This seems to make it so that the font panel and font menu cannot change its attributes. Commenting out the call to -setTypingAttributes: makes things work again. This behavior does not occurr on Mac OS X.

For a reproducable example, see: http://mail.rochester.edu/~asveikau/grouch/grouch-src-20060629.tar.gz

Open an IM window and try to change the font of the input field. It won't work.
