Try Insert->Session->Shell.

If that is not close enough to what you had in mind, suggest an improvement and I'll reopen the bug.

I am a vim user who also happens to like texmacs. I use debian GNU/Linux as my operating system.

In vim, one can run external commands by using :r

For example, if I want to run the shell command date, I can do

:!date

Similarly, if I want to put the output of an external command into the current document I can give it as an argument to 'r' which stands for read. So If I do

:r !date

vim will then put the current date in the document that is being edited. I gave the date command as an example. In general, It could be any command.

I think this kind of functionality would be a nice thing to have in texmacs as well.

thanks
raju
