should be now fixed in CVS.
There have been substantial changes for the new upgrade API,
so new (hopefully easy to fix) bugs could have crept in.

If you care to test latest CVS and report eventual problems separately it would be great.

Again, thanks for the catch.

Claudio

I am working on a fix for the unhelpful error messages.
Both interfaces will now properly detect the ERR_BUSY return value
(that means a package with the same name is already in) and spit out something meaningful.

The main issue (making update work using the same/default package name), expecially useful for cvs/svn directories derives from the new implementation of update, which is much safer now, but with the unpleasant surprise that it has become less flexible.

I will think this through and report back.

Thanks for your catch.

The CLI gives:

notroot@arthur[0:~]$ sourceinstall -g konversation konversation
sourceinstall: warning [upgrade_package]: could not initialize build
sourceinstall: warning [upgrade_package]: could not install new package version
sourceinstall: error [main]: action failed

or

notroot@arthur[0:~]$ sourceinstall -Qg konversation konversation
sourceinstall: error [parse_cmdline]: package already specified: konversation

The GTK interface gives:

Could not initialize build
This error condition has been detected while initializing the build prior to installation.

However, when I specify that the new package name should be something different than the old package name, everything works as expected, in either interface.
