Declined.

GNUstep is considering ways to comply to the FHS and this will likely be addressed under that. There is a task set up for this.... it is task #5537.

Hi! Thanks for the quick response. I agree that my absolute path in the "Icon" entry isn't ideal. On the other hand, usually applications place their icons in /usr/share/pixmaps, which is at least one location in which the gnome menu creation code looks for the icon. Normally there is no need for absolute icon paths because if a distro installs them in a nonstandard place, they tweak their menu creation accordingly.

I'm not absolutely sure what I'm talking about here, but it appears that according to the FHS you shouldn't be placing gorm-related stuff in /usr/lib at all [1]. You might want to consider using /usr/share/ for architecture-independant files [2], which would place the icons probably in /usr/share/pixmaps (or /usr/share/pixmaps/gorm

I'm running Ubuntu, so the path I specified is the path that the icon can be found under Ubuntu.

The desktop file should, ideally, be generated during the build, since it will need to use paths which are specific to the users' installation. I will take a look at what other applications with .desktop files are doing and make Gorm do the same.

Thanks for the report. GJC

Gorm does not ship with a .desktop file. I am attaching one ... It validates and shows up in the menu
