Yes, this way works. CVS compiles fine (just one more package needed) and the plugin is working nicely on Firefox. Rendering isn't very cool (pixeling) and on some animations big white rectangles are on top of all, hiding everything.

Here's the CLI messages, for the record:

Please try the latest CVS version, configuring it with:
./configure --enable-plugin

After compiling correctly on Ubuntu Dapper Drake the 0.7.1 version, Firefox 1.5.0.3 hangs with this error message (caught on http://www.libero.it ) :

The program 'Gecko' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
(Details: serial 20 error_code 8 request_code 143 minor_code 5)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Hope this helps. Steko

Well, on my Ubuntu system, this works just fine. I'd need access to a FreeBSD machine to really track this down, as there are other FreeBSD issues with Firefox/Gnash unfortunately that don't seem to exist on any other platform.

uname -a:
6.1-STABLE FreeBSD 6.1-STABLE #0: Thu May 11 16:27:29 CEST 2006 i386

Gnome 1.2, running gdm.

1) on page: http://www.pt.org.br (seems to be Flash 7 based)
Firefox crashes, crashing other applications opened.
Epiphany works well in this page.

2) on page http://paparazzo.globo.com/ (seems to be Flash 6 based)
Neither Firefox nor Epiphany runs the page adequately. It is suppossed to give you a page for selecting something else by mouse clicking.
No crash, no work.
Find attached dot_xsession_errors.tar containing:
dot_xsession_errors_paparazzo_nowork.gz
Find dot_xsession-errors_firefox_crash.gz attached.
