you can try to change the title of any screen using some spanish non standard ascii chars such as ñ or accented vowels áéíóú, even if you use utf-8. you will get some weird stuff.

scenario:

LANG=es_ES.UTF-8
LC_ALL=es_ES.UTF-8

using konsole configured using utf-8 charset

defutf8 on <- on ~/.screenrc

funky <funky>
