I just checked in a patch to correct (at least on FC4) the package names. Unfortunately package naming isn't consistant across GNU/Linux distributions, but at least it's closer.

When a library's devel package isn't installed, configure says to install a nonexistant package (such as libcairo-devel). Maybe that was the package's name in FC4, but now the packages don't have the lib prefix (for example cairo-devel).
