The full resolution of this bug has been postponed. Instead, I made the documentation more cautious about this issue, by saying that "certain formats such as verbatim support nested DATA_BEGIN/DATA_END blocks".

In the pipe protocol for plug-ins, embedding any other data block inside a "scheme:" block does not work. It terminates the scheme block right at the place where the new block starts.

E.g.: If the plug-in says (pnambic p_in notation):

[02]scheme:(folded "a" "b[02]prompt#bar[05]")[05]

then the output is:
(output (document (concat (folded "a" "\\\"b") "\\\")")))
instead of:
(output (document (folded "a" "b")))

Similarly,

[02]scheme:(folded "a" [02]verbatim:bar[05])[05]

Gives an invalid output instead of:

(output (document (folded "a" "bar")))
