I added a local copy of libtool.m4, which is what can't
be found on your system, since this seems to be a common
problem. ./autogen.sh && ./configure again to test

I run the autogen.sh script to create the configure script. I get a lot of warnings/errors. When I then run the configure script it ends with:
configure: creating ./config.status
config.status: error: cannot find input file: Makefile.in
System is Kubuntu Breezy 5.10 x86_64.
