The problem has gone with the latest update of the ftp-client. This bug can be closed.

Marked as `Need Info', talked to Thomas on IRC, and he was going to try and reproduce this with a CVS version of inetutils with debugging symbols.

If I do the following, the ftp client dies with a "segmentation fault" (>=own input, ""=output from ftp):

>ftp ftp.kde.org

"Connected to ftp.kde.org (131.220.60.97).
220 welcome to the bolug ftp server! -- contact: -unavailable-
Name (ftp.kde.org:thomas):"

>ftp

"530 Please login with USER and PASS.
SSL not available
331 Please specify the password.
Password:"

>ftp

"230 Login successful. Have fun.
Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.
ftp>"

>ls

The same happens on other ftp connections, too, like ftp.debian.org.

The system is up-to-date (2006-01-1, Debian distribution)
