We've moved to GRUB 2 as a development platform. Please can you check if this bug still applies there, and if it does, reopen it?

Thanks

This command tends to trigger bug #14407 if it is used from a CD and doesn't find the file it's looking for; I've submitted a patch for that bug separately.

This patch adds a new command to the grub builtins, which is a combination of the "find" and "configfile" commands. It allows grub to search for a configuration file on all partitions and load it automatically.

We are using it in a test CD which needs to reboot several times to find new kernels. It will be used on many systems so we can't have a statically assigned place on disk to keep the config data for which kernel to load next. Instead, we save the next boot's grub config with a known path (in any partition) and search for it at boot time using this "findconfig" command.

The patch is against the CVS source of 20051128

Cheers,

Tim Deegan
