This seems to work with CVS version. Please, provide exact information on how to reproduce this behavior.

The exclude commandline options is being ignored on the command line when it comes at the end. See Debian bug 318805

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=318805

The command:

tar -cf $1 /home/user --exclude 'user/src/*'

results in the exclude being completely ignored. However the exclude is recognized when used on the command line like so:

tar --exclude 'user/src/*' -cf $1 /home/user

Now the exclude works properly. Tar 1.15.1 broke all my scripts, and lots of people are sad.
