I'm ashamed it took so long, but finally it is fixed. Mailutils streams have been rewritten from scratch and use an efficient buffering scheme now.

Hi,

this is rather an enhancement request than a bug. There doesn't seem to be a category for that, though. I hope the bugtracker is the right place for this.

When downloading attachments via IMAP, data is transferred in chunks of 2048 bytes. This decreases performance significantly when latency vs. bandwidth is high. Increasing the buffer size shouldn't hurt except under special circumstances (embedded systems with low memory).

I therefore suggest increasing the transfer chunk size from 2048 to 65536 bytes. See also the attached patch.
