Note that the autohide works only if the desktop is visible (Tools->Show Desktop) because it is based on enter and exit mouse events in the desktop view. When it doesn't behave as expected it is because, moving the mouse too fast, an event is lost.

Anyway, you can show or hide the shelf from Tools->Tabbed Shelf->Show/Hide Tabbed Shelf.

I find the new tabbed shelf (the one which auto-hides and auto-shows) of unreliable operation. It remains visible when you move the mouse away, it doesn't always pop-up when it should.

Generally I find its usage a bit awkward, IMHO it doesn't "marry" well with the mini-windows and appicons typical of gnustep

It would be interesting to see how the original OPENSTEP implementation was, but from what I remember it existed in some demo screenshots only?

I miss the old click-to-show operation, although ti was slower. it wsa more predictable. Maybe the method of show/hide could be user-selectable)? alternatives could be seeked?

What to others think?
