#23972 is a more up to date bug report of compiling GNU gv with visual studio.

If Since todays configure.ac update:

  • if inttypes.h is available: Nothing changed
  • If inttypes.h is not available (ISO C89): you have to supply the configure argument "--with-intptr_t=TYPE". Type may be intptr_t, if this is available on your system. Otherwhise specify an integer type that is as large as an int (if available, otherwise use a larger inegral type and get some warnings). Configure will inform you if you need to specify this option.

I have eliminated warnings from "-std?=c89 -pedantic". Note that for an ISO-C89 Compiler, you must supply "-Dintptr_t=long" in yout CFLAGS at configure time, where you replace long by the type that has the same size as a pointer. If there is none, use a bigger one and get some warnings while compiling.

I cannot find any error while compiling with -std=c89 using gcc. Only several warnings with -Wall about implicit declarations.

So i mark this bug as in-progress until i fix the warning.

cc Sun WorkShop 6 update 2 is (I think) a c89 compiler and the source of gv 3.6.1 seems not to be c89 compliant.
The principal error is the incorrect definition of variables into the body of the functions and not in the beginning of the functions.

For example, it's hard to correct src/ps.c -> psscan.
