I `cvs update'd at 16:38 (EDT) on 2 Jun 2005 and rebuilt to generate the
binary which I used for this test.

When invoking gmake under zsh, everything behaves as I expect. When
running under ksh, I get extra characters in the output from func. This
only happens under ksh with the latest CVS sources but it happens under
any shell with 3.80.3.
