I think this also happened once when I ran gimp, so it is probably from GTK.

I am getting the same screens. Something in GNU Backgammon is triggering it.

Double-click icon on the desktop or single-click icon on quick-launch or start from the Start menu. Windows alert box opens.

Title: Windows - No Disk
Descriptor: There is no disk inthe drive. Please insert a disk into drive.
Options: Cancel / Try Again / Continue.

Clicking any of the three options brings up the same alert box.
Clicking Try Again will always bring up the alert box.
Clicking either Cancel or Continue on the second box alows the game to open.

This is a standard Win XP SP2 system.

This sounds strange! I believe this dialog does not come from GNU Backgammon, but from OS. I can't understand what's trigging it. Is this a special system where it's installed. When in the startup does this happen?

Sometimes starting gnubg would cause this error dialog:
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk5\DR8.
Cancel
Try Again
Continue
If I click on Continue, the same error dialog pops up again and then after clicking on continue, the game starts normally.
