We've moved to GRUB 2 as a development platform. Please can you check if this bug still applies there, and if it does, reopen it?

Thanks

during configuration it is apparently not possible to
specify where helper executables (stage1, stage2, etc)
should go, except crudely using PREFIX. They then go
into PREFIX/lib/grub/i386-pc.

It seems to me, either this should be documented, or
configure should allow me to specify that the files
should be installed under, for example, /boot/grub,
which is hard-coded into grub in some places.
