I took the first option. The package datetime.sty may be too exotic for most LaTeX users; and hardcoding the date imply a loose of semantic.

Afaik, the is no straightforward way to format a date in LaTeX. Possible options:

  • we do not export the date format.
  • we expand macro and replace \today by the hardcoded date in the good format;
  • we rely on the package datetime.sty for the date formating.

Attention: the TeXmacs macro date may take 0 or 1 argument
(an empty argument is also equivalent to no argument).
I don't know what LaTeX supports in this respect...

The TeXmacs markup <date> should be tranlated in latex using the \today TeX primitive.
