This has been fixed for over a month afaik (it works for me) with no feedback to say otherwise.

Alex,

may this bug be closed now? You kept it open based on another bug report which has been closed in the mean time.

still doesn't work, see bug #11853 for an explanation of why, since it's the same root problem (presumably in either NSPath or NSUserDefaults (which probably uses NSPath).

This is not exaclty a windows backend problem as the other two bug reports #11853 and #11854 show. There the same problem is reported for gdnc and gdomap. The later being the reason for the second error message you get.

There seems to be a well know (but up to now not to GNUstep) problem with spawn on MINGW. The following pages suggest ways to escape the arguments to the spawn call:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/groff/2004-01/msg00093.html
http://sources.redhat.com/ml/binutils/2003-01/msg00380.html

Not sure if any of these made it into more recent releases of MinGW.

when I try to start gpbs under mingw32, and the path has spaces in it, it simply dies immediately, saying "gpbs - spawn failed - bye." When I start it using the tilde-expanded directory path (ie no spaces), it starts fine, but then dies within a second or two, saying "gpbs[2072] Unable to register with name server."
