As described in bug #1418, this bug has already been fixed in CVS and will be available in the next release of GNU make.

As reported in bug #1418, there is a problem in the function notice_finished_file, at line 790 :
for (i = file->cmds->ncommand_lines; i > 0; --i)

With this very simple makefile, I get file->cmds == NULL :
