Well then, I'm approving your project. You will receive a message with further instructions.

Happy hacking!

Hi Aljosha,

since I use openJDK, but don't use a completely free distribution (kubuntu, shame on me), I wondered about it too and wrote to the savannah-users mailing list. Here is one of the replies:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/savannah-users/2012-11/msg00022.html
So it seems to be sufficient, doesn't it? The project doesn't depend on anything else than the standard Java packages and Swing. If you want, I can still try it in a virtual machine with Trisquel.
Hehe, indeed, Paul is my first staff member. Maybe I should have made it more clear that this page isn't for development, but he seems to have noticed it now. :o]

Thank you again for answering so quickly!
Simon

Thank you.
I will take note of that.

Your project now looks fine! Just one more question: Does your project run fine with a free Java implementation? I did a quick check but I'd like to hear a more qualified answer from you.

P.S: Is Paul Moises your hacking buddy? Because, this task page is only for evaluation; that is checking for the requirements and the legal checks (copyright notices and license headers). Any development can be done after project activation and without the need to get an approval here.

Hello,

thank you for your efforts of evaluating my project!
I tried to correct all the issues you were pointing out. I have inserted a header into the makefile, put the documentation under the GNU FDL 1.3 and added comments to all image files via imagemagick.
Note that I also added two new source files in src/client: SwingMessageRunnable.java and MessageType.java as a quick fix for my Swing problems. I payed attention to add a copyright and license header to them, too.

Best regards,
Simon

After rechecking the source I edited(file #27092), I found out that the login screen is misplaced. Please disregard this attached file and/or kindly remove it, if possible.

Hi,

thanks for submitting your project to Savannah! I'm evaluating your project for approval and found the following issues:

Makefile and the image files are missing copyright notices and license headers. You can add textual annotations to image files with various programs, e.g. with GIMP (Image -> Image Properties) or image-dired in Emacs (command c).

Your documentation is copyrighted only. This makes it unfree because you still have to copyleft it. README.txt states that all files are licensed under AGPL 3 or later. In this case just add a AGPL 3 license header to your documentation (devdoc.txt, windows.txt). However, I encourage you to use a more suitable license for documentation: the GNU FDL, but it's really up to you whether to use it or not.

Please correct your files and upload a new tarball on the bottom of the task page.

Best regards.

I found out that my submitted client code often throws an Exception, saying something about "awt-eventqueue-0". Moving the call "connect()" after "this.win.show()" in Client.init() should temporarily fix it, but I don't know how to change / update the tarball now?

Registration Details

  • Name: Faunis
  • System Name: faunis
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU Affero General Public License v3 or later

Description:

Faunis is aimed to be a free furry MMORPG. While there already exist several free software MMORPGs and some furry multiplayer games, none of them seemed to really be what I was looking for, so I decided to start an own approach. It is still under heavy development so there isn't much to see yet. Faunis provides 2d graphics.
