Okay, thanks. Then I can now delete your project submission here.
:-)

Have fun with the Directory nevertheless.

Thanks, good point about using the directory instead, that's just what I needed.

I will let your snide comment on agreeing with Richard's point of view slide ;-) It is not that I disagree actually, but if things are not called what RMS wants, well, it is not my problem :-)

Hello.

At first, the "redirection" option is only valid for projects that were hosted on SV and then moved - not for new projects.

If you need only a redirection, then you need nothing.
And if you would like to get listed on http://directory.fsf.org/ you can simply add yourself there (http://www.gnu.org/server/takeaction.html#directory) - no need to have a redirection in SV.

At second, you should agree with our point of view and call it GNU/Linux, too.
See also http://www.gnu.org/gnu/gnu-linux-faq.html#why

Please clarify these points mentioned above, thanks.

Currently, the project is hosted at Ximian and Harvard, and I plan to continue that way. The redirection option seemed ideal, as I have seen that other projects on nongnu simply redirect to their non-local home sites.

I might use hosting eventually, but for starters I would start with redirect. Essentially, I see your service as an increasingly complete directory of FOSS software. I would like such directory to include man, as it already includes man-db, which is used on other (primarily Suse) distros.

I am aware of the naming debate. As the wikipedia, I take the stance that things are called what the world at large calls them, not what Richard wants to have them named. I sympathize with his point of view, but I am not going to get into that sort of issue.

The current project home is at: http://primates.ximian.com/~flucifredi/man/ - currently this is the man pager used in Fedora, Slackware, Gentoo, Cygwin, and (non-default but packaged) Debian. Basically it is the default choice outside of Suse.

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

At first, what do you mean with "Redirection"? We would agree with you if you want to host your project here. ;-)
How do you plan to use our services?

At second, "Linux" is just a kernel of a more complex system that we like to refer to
as GNU/Linux, to emphasize the ideals of the Free Software movement.

Would you mind changing references to Linux as an OS to GNU/Linux?

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/gnu/linux-and-gnu.html.

At third, please include a (perhaps temporary) URL pointing to the source code.
The description you gave when registering will not be read by the general public.
If you are still concerned with privacy, however, you can forward the code to me by email.

We wish to review your source code, even if it is not functional, to catch potential legal issues early.

For example, to release your program properly under the GPL you must include a copyright notice and
permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every file of source code.  This is explained in
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.  Our review would help catch potential omissions such as these.

Regards,
