Borrowing heavily from http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-hurd/2007-03/msg00101.html and http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-hurd/2006-07/msg00017.html I had submitted the following proposal as my project http://nrcfosshelpline.in/code/wiki/OS I am a part of a team in India that is actively promoting the development of the Hurd and since I am already actively working on this task I request to be assigned to it. Please feel free to ask me questions if I have left any questions unanswered.
The device driver glue code which we currently use in GNU Mach could be updated (read: most probably be rewritten). It could either be updated to a more modern Linux variant--like Linux 2.6--or one could investigate if writing glue code for e.g. FreeBSD is feasible. Or both of them.
