Hello.

At first, we don't like the term GNU Linux instead of GNU/Linux. Have a look at http://www.gnu.org/gnu/gnu-linux-faq.html#whyslash and see why.

At second, I have approved your project as non-GNU.
You will receive an automated e-mail containing detailed information about the approval.

If you would like to offer your project to the GNU project,
please contact the GNU Eval team, following the instructions at
http://www.gnu.org/help/evaluation.html .

At third, the address of the FSF has changed, and is now:

51 Franklin Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA  02110-1301  USA

Please update your license notices.

Updates versions of the GPL, LGPL and GFDL can also be found at:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt

Please update the copy of the license (usually, the 'COPYING' file) in your package as well.

You can find some background and a possible migration script at https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=3766

Regards.

Hello,

The code and binaries are available at http://www.geocities.com/hvansteenhuyse/hxe.html
(this is not a temporarly location).
All the gnu linux references are modified in the tarrball and zip files downloadable from this website.

Functional Description:
-----------------------
The tool is developped to view, modify and search large binary files without using much memory. Help is available by typing :h <enter> from within the user interface. Over time I intend to add some other functionalities or improve the user interface.

Technical Description:
----------------------
The tool is written in the c language.

The code is build with G++ (GCC):
GNU Linux: gcc version 3.3.2 (kernel version 2.4)
Windows XP: MinGW (gcc for windows) version 3.4.2

Required Libraries:
-------------------
GNU Linux: ncurses library (I built it with version 5.3, but any version will do).
Windows: no special libraries, the ususal MinGW packages.

Building the code:
------------------
GNU Linux: /hxe/bin/unix/make.sh
Windows: /hxe/bin/win/make.bat

I hope this satisfy your requests.
Best regards and thanks for your time and work spent on this,
Hubert.

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

At first, "Linux" is just a kernel of a more complex system that we like to refer to
as GNU/Linux, to emphasize the ideals of the Free Software movement.

Would you mind changing references to Linux as an OS to GNU/Linux?

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/gnu/linux-and-gnu.html.

At second, we need a detailed technical description that specifies such requirements as programming languages and external libraries.
It should be at least one-half a page.

At third, please include a (perhaps temporary) URL pointing to the source code.
The description you gave when registering will not be read by the general public.
If you are still concerned with privacy, however, you can forward the code to me by email.

We wish to review your source code, even if it is not functional, to catch potential legal issues early.

For example, to release your program properly under the GPL you must include a copyright notice and
permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every file of source code.  This is explained in
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.  Our review would help catch potential omissions such as these.

Regards,

Sebastian Wieseler <kickino>
