Hi,
(don't know at which tarball I had a look :))

I have approved your project.  You will receive an automated e-mail containing detailed information about the approval.

But please put your COPYING file into the root (/) of your project, not under the doc/ directory, that's why you should release your documentation under the GNU FDL. Thanks.

Regards.

Hi,

sorry, but this time I don't really understand what I have to do. First of all, I have no includes/ with html files in there. All the php or css files in there contain the license and copyright notice of GPL as you have requested. I also don't understand what you mean by 'after the title page of each work' - which title page?

Secondly, the doc/ directory contains the GPL as a file COPYING as you have requested earlier. Where should I put the FDL as COPYING file now?

The only files I could think of are the ones in doc/, like BUGS, TODO etc. Should I place the FDL notice in there?

Anything else I should do? I'd like to finish up, maybe you can just list everything that is wrong so I can fix it in one step?

Thanks a lot,
Stephan

Hello.

In order to release your project (your documentation and  includes/*htm*) properly and unambiguously under the FDL, please place copyright notices and permission-to-copy statements after the title page of each work.

In addition, if you haven't already, please add a copy of the FDL
(available from http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.html in various formats)
as a section of your works , and as plain text in a file named 'COPYING' (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt).

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.html#SEC4

http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl-howto.html also covers additional points,
including a smaller notice that you can use in auxiliary files.

Thanks for the help,

Hello.

You added the license notices, but did not add appropriate copyright notices.

Please check http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html
for more information, and update your files.

And please remove the license notices from doc/COPYING, only the GPL should be in this file, nothing else.

Sebastian, thanks for your help. It's more difficult to comply with GPL than I thought ;)

Please find an updated version on this site:

Cheers,
Stephan

Hello.

At first, please remove GIF image files from your project and replace them with an other format (such as PNG or JPEG).

Because of the patents (Unisys and IBM) covering the LZW compression algorithm which are used when making GIF files,
it's impossible to have free software to generate proper GIFs.  These patents also apply to the compress program.

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/gif.html.

Then add a README file for the .png/.jpg in their directory and write there the copyright+license notices down. See also
http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html

At second, move doc/GPL to doc/COPYING - the COPYING file should always include the whole license not only the license notices.

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

In order to release your project properly and unambiguously under the GPL,
please place copyright notices and permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every file of source code.

In addition, if you haven't already, please include a copy of the plain text version of the GPL,
available from http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt, into a file named "COPYING".

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.

The GPL FAQ explains why these procedures must be followed.
To learn why a copy of the GPL must be included with every copy of the code, for example,
see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#WhyMustIInclude.

And please, if available, provide us with a tarball, because we are not allowed to use Subversion for our work with Savannah, because of the incompatible license (with our GPL). :)

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project.  Upon review, we will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the tracker's web interface following the link below. Do not reply directly, the
registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we will not receive such replies.

######### REGISTRATION DETAILS #########

Full Name:
----------
PHP based program to manage members of a

System Group Name:
-----------------
  phpmymembers

Type:
-----
  non-GNU software & documentation

License:
--------
GNU General Public License V2 or later

Description:
------------
'phpMyMembers' is a php4 based program to manage members of a club or a community. It has a strong focus on usability and is thus not as overloaded as community sites but offers features (like the PDF based generation of address labels) that pure address book program usually lack.

As an associate member of the FSF I already tried to make my program GPLv2 compatible by including a 'docs/COPYRIGHT' and a 'docs/GPL'.

The code is in a very early stage of development but already usable, since a club I am member of needs this function as soon as possible.

'phpMyMembers' requires:
 - some webserver
 - php4
 - mysql >3.32

'phpMyMembers' incorporates:
 - fpdf v1.53 (fpdf.org)

Please find the code here (login: gnu/gnu):
https://svn.ini.unizh.ch/repos/stephan/phpMyMembers/trunk/
