Hello...

then we'll cancel your registration now. Feel free to re-register when you added license+copyright notices to your source code and when you removed the non-free dependences.

Regards,

Sebastian Wieseler <kickino>

I'd like to, but it appears I have some work to do first to remove the functionality that relies on Log4j and resin.  And - I need to add the copyright notices.  This will take me a little while to get to.  I should probably resubmit later.

Thanks

- Mark

Hi,

I am waiting for an answer from you.

If within one week I still do not get a reply, I will remove your project.
You will still be able to register it again once you have the time to deal with the registration issues.

Are you still willing to host your project at Savannah?
If not, please tell us - we don't bite, and it will make us gain time.

Regards.

Hello.

All right, and please remember that you cannot upload files to Savannah that depends on non-free things.

Furthermore please include a (perhaps temporary) URL pointing to the source code.
The description you gave when registering will not be read by the general public.
If you are still concerned with privacy, however, you can forward the code to me by email.

We wish to review your source code, even if it is not functional, to catch potential legal issues early.

For example, to release your program properly under the GPL you must include a copyright notice and
permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every file of source code. This is explained in
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html. Our review would help catch potential omissions such as these.

Regards,

Sebastian Wieseler <kickino>

Yes - I can remove the dependence on both of these items.  It was initially developed that way since the ISP that I was using used Resin and they recommended Log4j.

Hello.

Seems like Resin was released under the Caucho Developer Source License 1.1 http://www.caucho.com/sales/license.xtp.
And Log4j was released under the Apache License Version 2.0.

Because of the first license, I asked -email is unavailable- to clarify if it is compatible with the GNU GPL...

Because of the second license, I had a look at our license page http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html, which says:
"Apache License, Version 1.1

This is a permissive non-copyleft free software license with a few requirements that render it incompatible with the GNU GPL.

We urge you not to use the Apache licenses for software you write. However, there is no reason to avoid running programs that have been released under this license, such as Apache."

The result is, that you cannot releasen your project under the GNU GPL and link it with 'incompatible' projects.
And at last, we don't host such software at Savannah.

Maybe you can solve the "Log4j" dependence?

The project currently runs only on Resin (application server).  This is a temporary requirement.

Resin is located at:  http://www.caucho.com/

Log4j: http://logging.apache.org/log4j/docs/

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

At first, can you please point me to the "home"{-URI} of  'Resin' and 'Log4j'?

At second, you must determine whether your project can run on a Free Software Java suite (see http://www.gnu.org/software/java/ for more information).

We recommend you to test your project using GCJ and GNU Classpath, and ensure
that your Java code runs on this Free Software Java suite.

GCJ is the GNU Compiler for Java, part of the GCC (GNU Compiler Collection).
The Classpath project aims to develop a free and portable implementation of the Java API
(the classes in the 'java' package).

More information is available at http://gcc.gnu.org/ and http://www.gnu.org/software/classpath/ .

Please provide us with more information about this point.

At third, please include a (perhaps temporary) URL pointing to the source code.

Poster is a very simple website content management system.  It runs in Java on the Resin servlet engine.

It users XML to store all the data about a site - the content and the style information.

The editor is web-based - the user is allowed to log in and then access the editor.

There are four types of editors (web-pages): content, style, users, and resources.  The content editor is the tool to use to change any page content or to add new pages.  The style editor allows for different layout and style choices.  The user editor is used to create users and modify privileges.  The resource editor is used to upload files, usually images.

XSLT is used significantly throughout.

This is a very handy editor - very simple to install, administer and to use.
