Hello and sorry for the delay.

I had to clarify the point about the GPL and LGPL.
Please rename your COPYING file to COPYING.LIB. And put the http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt into the COPYING file.

The GNU manual says:
"If the package contains any files distributed under the Lesser GPL, it should contain a full copy of that as well (conventionally in a file named COPYING.LIB)."

Nevertheless I have approved your project.  You will receive an automated e-mail containing detailed information about the approval.

Regards.

Sorry about the confusion!

I originally intended to license the project under the GPL v2 or later, and split it into a library licensed under the LGPG v2.1 or later and a command-line utility licensed under the GPL v2 or later.

On second though I realize that this may not be the most sound approach, so instead I'll be opting for the LGPL v2.1 or later for the entire project.

I've updated the headers of all source code files and the COPYING file.

The URL of an updated tarball is http://folk.uio.no/mariuslj/castget-0.1.tar.gz.

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

At first, you have included a COPYING file, which includes the GNU GPL, but you files were published under the GNU LGPL.

At second, Licensing under the "GNU LGPL v2.1 only" is problematic.
Would you agree to license your project under the "GNU LGPL v2.1 or later"?

The reason for this is that when we publish LGPL v3,
it will be important for all LGPL-covered programs to advance to LGPL v3.
If you don't put this in the files now, the only way to port your program to LGPL v3 would be to ask each
and every copyright holder, and that may be very difficult.

We can explain the issue in more detail if you wish.
If you have concerns about "LGNU GPL v2.1 or later", we'd be happy to address them too.

And at last, the address of the FSF has changed, and is now:

51 Franklin Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA  02110-1301  USA

Please update your license notices.

Updates versions of the GPL, LGPL and GFDL can also be found at:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt

Please update the copy of the license (usually, the 'COPYING' file) in your package as well.

You can find some background and a possible migration script at https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=3766

Please clarify the point of the difference licenses in your COPYING file and in the source code headers and of the "version 2.1 only"-issue.

Regards,

Description:
------------
castget is intended to be a simple RSS enclosure downloader. While RSS enclosures in principle can be any file associated with an entry in an RSS file, castget is intended to be used for retrieving podcasts.

It is a non-interactive, command-line based utility that may be run from the user's cron table.

The flow of the program is straighforward: Based on an .ini-style configuration file, it iterates the list of configured feeds or a subset of these, downloads RSS files, checks for new enclosures, optionally downloads these, and marks the enclosures as downloaded. For each downloaded enclosure a set of postprocessing operations may be performed.

The postprocessing operations include
 - Tagging of downloaded media files.
 - Automatic maintainance of m3u playlists.
 - User-defined pre- and post-processing commands.

If the project proves to be successful, I'll probably split the code into an LGPL'ed libcastget and a GPL'ed castget utility.

Source code available from http://folk.uio.no/mariuslj/castget-0.1.tar.gz functional, but fairly stripped of features).
