There are no more downloads on https://sourceforge.net/projects/ksenomorph/. I'm waiting for decision now, thank you.

I think than the hosting requirement are meet as long as you do not
upload future versions and you remove files from download
area. However I can't approve the project. An administrator will do a
final review and approve the project if he think that is ok.

The Poseidon project is now marked as moved on SourceForge project page (https://sourceforge.net/projects/ksenomorph/) and have a link to http://www.nongnu.org/poseidon.

According to their policies on data preservation (https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/sourceforge/wiki/Removing%20a%20project):

"Projects which have moved to another hosting provider are typically retained at SourceForge.net (though you can make a note on the project web site and project summary page directing users to the new home) for sake of retaining materials of historical value."

Ups, mistrake in past message, I modified a preformatted message but
make a mistrake.

"We do not want to be used as a mere mirror, if project if hosted on
SF the main development must happen here." should be:

As you know savannah is a central point for development, distribution
and maintenance of GNU and no-GNU Software. However, we do not allow
to host your project on Savannah and SourceForge at the same time. We
do not want to be used as a mere mirror, if project if hosted on SF
the main development must happen here.

Tell us when your project has been removed from SF then. An
administrator will do a final review and approve the project if all is
ok.

Regards.

I did no review well your README files the past time, excuse me, they
are fine as they are currently :).

>About poseidon/doc/Doxyfile.in: this big file was generated once, by
>"doxygen -g Doxyfile.in", then I modified it a little. Is it proper
>to put my copyright into it?

Doxigen page states this: "Documents produced by doxygen are
derivative works derived from the input used in their production; they
are not affected by this license.".

So, you are the Copyright holder of Doxyfile.in, the licence should be
GPL 3+ so if that file accept comments put the copyright notice and
licence header into it, if it do not accept comment then add it to the
list of the appropiate README file.

>you currently list the files but do not state it licence nor it copyright holder.

Currently, there are 4 files in Ksenomorph created for this purpose:

ksenomorph/cursors/README
ksenomorph/src/README
ksenomorph/lib/README
ksenomorph/icons/README

All of them have a copyright and license notice like this:

The files enumerated in the following list are part of Ksenomorph 3D Modeler.
Copyright (C) 2009 Dmitry Samoyloff.

Ksenomorph is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify it under

========== File List ==========

...

Should I simply do it like you suggested, moving the file list to the top of the file?

About poseidon/doc/Doxyfile.in: this big file was generated once, by "doxygen -g Doxyfile.in", then I modified it a little. Is it proper to put my copyright into it?

The readme file should state the copyright holder and licence of the
files, you currently list the files but do not state it licence nor it
copyright holder. Use something like this (With obious substitutions):

The following files are part of PROGRAM:

LIST OF FILES

PROGRAM is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify it under
the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free
Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or (at your option)

more details.

You should have received a copy of the GNU General Public License along
with PROGRAM. If not, see <http://www.gnu.org/licenses/>.

About poseidon/doc/Doxyfile.in: Be it autogenerated or not, it must be
clear who is the Copyright holder and under wath licence it is
under. You can make the generation program to put the appropiate
copyright information or else include that information in a README
file.

Regards.

I fixed everything and committed into CVS branch "newkseno-2008-02-03" on sf.net. Check it out using:

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@ksenomorph.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/ksenomorph login
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@ksenomorph.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/ksenomorph co -P -r newkseno-2008-02-03 poseidon
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@ksenomorph.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/ksenomorph co -P -r newkseno-2008-02-03 ksenomorph

I have some notes though:

1) poseidon/doc/Doxyfile.in is big, but pretty straightforward: it is a configuration file derived from template auto-generated by doxygen program. I don't think it should be licensed somehow.

2) There are *.ui XML files in the ksenomorph/{src,lib} dirs, generated by Qt Designer program. They represent GUI dialogs. I see no point in adding the license header by hand before each commit, so I enumerated them in README file.

November 2nd in GNU Savannah item 9939: "Submission of Poseidon"

Hi, I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in
Savannah. While doing so I have noticed a few problems which are
described below.

Please add Licence and Copyright notices to all your non trivial
files (Usually more than 10 lines), that include XML, C headers, C++
headers and documentation files. If your project contains files than
can not contain the Copyright and licencing information you should put
a README file enumerating all the files, it Copyright holder and it
licence.

Registration Administration

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific Group Administration page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):

Registration Details

  • Name: Poseidon
  • System Name:  poseidon
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v3 or later

Description:

The Poseidon project currently consists of:

- 3D Engine.
- 3D Modeler.
- 3D World Editor.
- 2D Sprite Editor.

The goal is to create a "framework" for easy creation of lightweight 3D applications (such as simple games, screensavers, etc) by using user-friendly tools and a scripting language.

Programming languages: C++, Lua (planning to make more bindings).

Other Software Required:

- OpenGL (works well with free Xorg 3D drivers) [MIT] http://xorg.freedesktop.org/.
- OpenAL [LGPL] http://kcat.strangesoft.net/openal.html.
- SDL-1.2 [LGPL] http://www.libsdl.org/.
- Lua-5.1 [MIT] http://www.lua.org/.
- libxml2 [MIT] http://www.xmlsoft.org/.
- KDE4 libs (only for tools) [LGPL] http://www.kde.org/.

Other Comments:

I care about software freedom, so I'd like to migrate to Savannah. This project is on SourceForge currently (https://sourceforge.net/projects/ksenomorph/). The CVS trunk is very outdated, but these days I redesigning and rewriting the code in a separate CVS branch. I'd like to move my code into the GNU Bazaar VCS on Savannah.
