since rms did not say anything to the contrary (and I'd be greatly surprised if he had a problem with lzip being on savannah), I just approved and enabled the project.  It will take an hour or two for all the cron jobs to do their thing.

Happy hacking,
Karl

I have just released version 0.3 but, as this is going to take some time, better check the latest version at http://freshmeat.net/projects/lzip/

Thanks,
Antonio.

Registration Administration

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific Group Administration page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):

Registration Details

  • Name: Lzip
  • System Name:  lzip
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v3 or later

Description:

Lzip is a lossless file compressor based on the LZMA algorithm. Lzip has an interface identical to bzip2. Lzip achieves notably better compression ratios and a decompression speed several times faster than bzip2 at the cost of much more memory and time requirements during compression. Lzip provides error checking (CRC32 and file size). Lzip is written in C++.

Other Software Required:

Lzip only depends on the standard C/C++ libraries.

Other Comments:

ChangeLog, INSTALL and README lack copyright notices, but I'll add them for next release.
Lzip does not include any media files but the form won't validate if I don't check the "Origin and license of media files is precised" box.
