Hi Franco,

Drop the previous URL and use the following one (that tarball is missing of fdl.texi file ...). You should find the updated tarball at:

http://savannah.gnu.org/submissions_uploads/hybrid-0.0.5.tgz

Sorry again for all inconveniences ...

Cheers,
Francesco

Hi Franco,

I've updated the package following your directions. This is the URL:

http://savannah.gnu.org/submissions_uploads/hybrid-0.0.4.tgz

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Cheers,
Francesco

Hi Francesco, I am reviewing the project you submitted for hosting at Savannah.

Here are my comments:
 - in the COPYING file you include, the address of the Free Software
Foundation is the old one. You should change it to "51 Franklin
Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA  02110-1301, USA". You should also
make that change in the 'gpl.texi' file.

- the documentation included must be GNU FDL licensed because we do not accept GPL-only documentation. Another important reason to make the change is that you are including part of the  GNU Coding Standards manual (which is under GFDL). That parts lacks of their original copyright notice (this is a violation of the GNU Coding Standards terms), you should fix that.

If you are willing to make those changes, please submit a new updated package or provide us with an URL to get it. After that, we will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

PD: Thanks for the ELKlib release, but is not necessary.

Regards,

Franco Iacomella

Hi Franco,

I've not released ELKlib tarballs yet and to test if hybrid compiles cleanly you need it. Attached you should find the needed tarball.

Sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused.

Cheers,
Francesco

Registration Details

  • Name: hybrid
  • System Name:  hybrid
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later (At the moment the package contains a revised version of the kconfig sources. I'm developing a substitution tool (used during the user feature selection phase). That tool is hosted in savannah too:

  https://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/choicetool

Choicetool license is GPL as well (I'm the maintainer).

When choicetool will reach a pretty good mature phase it will replace the kconfig package bundled inside this one

You should see the bundled kconfig package from the same point of view of uClibc ...)

Description:

Hybrid is a micro kernel. Its main characteristics are: C/C++ support, multiboot compliance and fully expandable from the users point of view.

Other Software Required:

hybrid depends upon elklib (required for building). ELKLib is a C/C++ support library hosted on savannah:

  https://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/elklib

ELKlib is GPL (I'm the maintainer).

The user should be able to compile the kernel with a minimum quantity of system tools: gcc, awk, sed and grep should be sufficient.

Other tools (perl, flex and bison) are required for maintenance purposes only

Other Comments:

The bundled kconfig package could be removed completely but the user should be required to configure the kernel features by hand, following an error prone procedure (without dependency tracking ...)
