Hi Denis,

Since I didn't got answer from you, I'll remove your project. You will
still be able to register it again once you have the time to deal with
the registration issues.

Regards.

Hi Denis,

My apologize for the delay on my answer.

Even if you  put the words together we will still reading the "open"
word, I understand that you may want to use it as a verb but in
english isn't so clear if you are using the word as a verb or as
adjective.

I cannot accept your new name, if you can use "free 'em up", please do
it, but as you say it will not mean the same. If you cannot use the
word "free" or you don't want to use it, please change the name of
your project, otherwise I will have to reject your project submission.

I hope you understand our reasons and try to change your project name
to fit our policy.

Regards,

Hi,

would it be OK to call it just Openemup (instead of "Open 'Em Up")?

The Word "Open" was supposed to be read as a verb.  "Free them up" wouldn't make much sense in the applications context.

Hi Denis,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

We have some problems with the use of the word "open" in your project
name, that's because Savannah's mission is to host free software
projects, and we want the public to think of them as free software
projects.  A project name that says "open" will tend to lead people to
think of the project as "open source" instead of "free software".

We would be glad if you accept to use "free" instead of "open" in your
project name.

In order to release your project properly and unambiguously under the
GNU GPL, please place copyright notices and permission-to-copy
statements at the beginning of every copyrightable file, usually any
file more than 10 lines long.

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.

If some of your files cannot carry such notices (e.g. binary files),
then you can add a README file in the same directory containing the
copyright and license notices. Check
http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html for
further information.

The GPL FAQ explains why these procedures must be followed.  To learn
why a copy of the GPL must be included with every copy of the code,
for example, see
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#WhyMustIInclude.

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide
us with an URL to an updated tarball (or use this tracker to upload
it) of your project.  Upon review, we will reconsider your project for
inclusion in Savannah.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the
tracker's web interface by following the link below. Do not reply
directly; the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we
will not receive such replies.

Regards.

Registration Administration

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific Group Administration page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):

Registration Details

  • Name: Open 'Em Up
  • System Name:  openemup
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later

Description:

It is a small application (about 1000 lines of C++) which allows the user to create custom popup-menus that can be bound to global keyboard-hotkeys or mouse-button-clicks.
Each menu item can be associated with a command and it is possible to include the current X11-selection as an argument to the command (e.g.: mozilla "http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=$INPUT").
It is also possible to popup an input-box to enter the value for $INPUT.
This application is especially usefull if you have too much buttons on your mouse.

Other Software Required:

- at least QT4 (I only tested with QT4.2.1 from debian etch)
- X11
- I think the rest is POSIX.

Other Comments:

Documentation is not complete, but the file example.xml and the README file should be helpfull.
