would like to offer your project to the GNU project, please contact
the GNU Eval team, following the instructions at

I've realised there is another dependency, on the Python Imaging Library. Its license is at

http://www.pythonware.com/products/pil/license.htm

which is like the original (before 1.6) Python license, apart from the copyright holders' names. From my reading of the FSF license list, this is GPL compatible.

Hi Douglas,

I committed a big mistake by no telling you that you was using the
license notice of GPLv3 and replacing the three number by a two, this
isn't valid at all as you choice to use the GPLv2 and the notice it's
pretty different, here you can found the GPLv2:

http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html

and here you can read about how to apply it:

http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html#SEC4

If you want to use the GPLv3 tell us and we will change the license of
your project and you will have to replace the two by a three in all
your license notice. On the other hand, if you want to keep using the
GPLv2 please change all your license notice properly.

hi Jonathan,

Thanks for spotting that. That directory wasn't in use anyway, so I have just removed it.

I've added the COPYING file and I've also removed the config/background.jpg image because it isn't strictly necessary and would probably be better as part of a separate media tarball.

Hi Douglas,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

I've reviewed your source code and you have some issue that need to be
fixed before being approved at Savannah.

You have the license and copyright notice missing in all the files
inside of misc/ directory, please fix it.

On the other hand, please include a copy of the plain text version of
the GPL, available from http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt, into a
file named "COPYING".

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.

The GPL FAQ explains why this and other procedures must be followed.
To learn why a copy of the GPL must be included with every copy of the
code, for example, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#WhyMustIInclude.

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide
us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project or use this
tracker to upload it.  Upon review, we will reconsider your project
for inclusion in Savannah.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the
tracker's web interface by following the link below. Do not reply
directly; the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we
will not receive such replies.

Regards.

Registration Details

  • Name: Te Tuhi Video Game System
  • System Name:  tetuhi
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later

Description:

Te Tuhi looks at static pictures of video games and works out how they might be played. It then allows the user to play the game.

The software is written in Python and C, using the PyGame library. It has been designed to work primarily with photographs of hand-drawn images. Elements of the image are isolated and given game roles; these roles are altered via an evolutionary process to refine the game.

The program was first used in an art exhibit, as described at http://halo.gen.nz/tetuhi and http://www.tetuhi.org.nz/exhibitions/exhibitiondetails.php?id=34. To facilitate this, the program can run in a kiosk mode, with only a joystick and button for input.
