I don't think we can steal it from xnu. Xnu is under the Apple Public Source License, it's not GPL-compatible.

Mach used to support multiprocessors. GNU Mach should too.

What is currently missing is the local APIC support. That can be stolen from xnu, Darwin's Mach. Then things should "just" need testing.
