Hi again,

We have discussed the options and we have decided that we want to start using Savannah as soon as possible, so we will delete the SourceForge project at the moment they approve it, because we have not used their resources yet.

So please, approve our project and give us SVN access.

Thanks again.

Hi,

I will try to answer all your questions

>What can we do?

1) You can use sourceforge for your project and we can close your savannah request.
2) You still want a savannah account. In this case we can approve your project. However we will review the code in the near future (or better, at your request). But you will have to delete your sourceforge account since we do not allow to host your project on Savannah and SourceForge at the same time.

>Do you have Subversion or just CVS?

savannah offers subversion as beta test (for information, I used it for 1 month now without any problems). But savannah offers git and arch too. So you have choice.

>What do you suggest to us?

If you still not use sourceforge yet (I am not able to find your project on sourceforge), and still want savannah, we can approve your project and give you access to a subversion repository. So you can start your brainstorming in good conditions.

I hope everything is a bit more clear now.

Regards,

Jean-Michel

Hello,

We need Savannah as soon as possible because we want to start the brainstorming in a mailing list and start coding in a month or so.

We accept the conditions, but we have a problem right now:

As we did submit the project request more than a month ago and had no reply since then, we also requested it at sourceforge.net. They have approved the project and the request is going to be processed in less than two weeks. They also have Subversion access.

So, that is the situation.

What can we do? Do you have Subversion or just CVS? What do you suggest to us?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Your projects meets the Savannah requirements, except that we cannot review your source code yet.

We prefer to approve project with source code, so we can check it for legal issues (even non-functional code is OK). We will among others check if the source files contain appropriate copyright notice and permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every copyrightable file. Our review helps catch potential legal issues early.

If you need Savannah right now, please explain to us why; otherwise, please resubmit the project when you have source code.

If we approve your project without source code, we will review the code in the near future (or better, at your request). If then the source code does not meet our requirements (for example, non-free dependencies), we will then discuss the issue and possibly remove the project from Savannah.

Do you need the Savannah services now, and if yes do you agree with the above conditions?

Regards,
Jean-Michel

Registration Details

  • Name: Not Another Plesk Admin Linux Manager
  • System Name:  napalm
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v3 or later

Description:

NAPALM: Not Another Plesk Administration Linux Manager.

A group of programmers and sysadmins joining together to code a completely free, open source manager to administer domains, mail accounts, ftp, mailing lists, dns, etc from an intuitive and user friendly web interface based on a backend written in Python that will try to run transparently on a lot of POSIX compliant systems and possibly also on some non free OS.

Written using Python to make it as modular as possible, to support as many apps as possible (LightTPD not only Apache, Postfix not only QMail, minorfish not only MailMan, etc) to help people in the same situation as us to use a free open source and almost bug free system replacement for Plesk and alike apps.

A project that will have monthly objectives to achieve our mission and provide as soon as possible a usable version.

If "Not Another Plesk Administration Linux Manager" can led to law problems we will use "Not Another Pathetic Administration Linux Manager".

The brainstorming will begin now and last to September and the first code commit will come after that during October.

Other Software Required:

We think that every Free Operating System will have the external needed programs:

Python
MySQL
LightTPD/Apache
Postfix/XMailServer
